In a technical sense, everybody in a MeetingSphere meeting is a participant.

In a narrower sense, the term 'participant' usually excludes the 'Facilitator' who runs the meeting. An example for this would be, "The Facilitator invites the participants by sending them a link to the meeting by email or Skype."

In contrast to the Facilitator who must sign in via the Meeting Center, participants usually access meetings via the Internet link they have received from the Facilitator. For this, the Facilitator must have opened the meeting.

As in a traditional phone conference, any person who can access the address (URL) of the meeting can join, unless the Facilitator requires entry of a security code.

The participant log-in page for the meeting is removed and entry is barred when the Facilitator closes the meeting for participants.
